About Us
Founded in the late 1970s, Ironmonger helped introduce coordinated European hardware programs to American architects at a time when most domestic suppliers still treated levers, pulls, and bath fittings as unrelated product lines.
European manufacturers had long pushed a single design language across doors, cabinets, and wet areas. Ironmonger built a Chicago-based team around that idea so specs, shop drawings, and field questions stay aligned from schematic design through installation.
Brands & Products
We represent and stock lines that architects specify every day, including Colombo, d line, FSB, Modric | Allgood, TECTUS hinges, and dozens of complementary brands. Our staff know how European sets map to ANSI prep, fire ratings, and ADA operating forces.
Browse by manufacturer or by product grouping to move from inspiration boards to submittal-ready cutsheets faster.

Specification support from sample to submittal
Hardware schedules move quickly when everyone agrees on handing, backset, and finish codes before the GC orders frames. Ironmonger answers RFI-style questions on European sets daily, from pivot details for oversized doors to bath accessory mounting in tile and solid surface.
If you already have a basis-of-design manufacturer, we can help you document alternates with comparable performance and cleaner lead times. When you need physical samples for client meetings, the Chicago office keeps representative ranges on hand and can route loaner sets with clear return dates.
We also coordinate with hollow metal and wood door vendors so mortise pockets, concealed closer bodies, and flush pulls line up with what the shop drawings show. That kind of front-end alignment cuts rework on site and keeps owner expectations tied to what was bid.
For ongoing projects, bookmark our technical information area and the services page for shop drawing review and field support options. For a stepwise prep reminder, see the spec checklist for European hardware.
